I hope your summer has gone well. I just thought I would blog about the disabled freshers programme. This year YUSU has decided to work with the colleges to ensure that new students with disabilities will have the welfare support they require. The move to university can often be hectic and strange. Having a place where new students can meet the support systems in place for them (the college disability officer, someone from disability services, and myself) and ask questions about university.
The line-up is as follows:
-Alcuin: 3 PM in the Alcuin JCRC on Monday 30th September
-Derwent: 3pm in Derwent JCR on Tuesday 1st October
-Goodricke and Langwith: 12.30pm in Goodricke Nucleus on Thursday 3rd October
-Halifax: 3 PM in JJ’s on Wednesday 2nd October
-James: 1pm at Lakeside JCR on Friday 4th October
-Vanbrugh: 2 PM in the JCR on Wednesday 9th October 2013
I would like to thank all the colleges for providing support and agreeing to host these events. However, in order to make this event a success, we need to promote this. Nouse has taken a lead by putting a fantastic welcome article there. However, I would hope that other places can promote these drop-ins so we can see freshers making the most of this event!
