Staying On Track, Work Week

Posted by Thomas Ron, 18/11/2015

Hi everyone,

So as those of you who follow YUSU on social media can attest to the fact that we have been running our Staying on Track campaign.  This is meant to ensure students have the resilience they need to complete studies and catch issues before they become a serious problem.  This week is focused on Work in Academia.

Here are some of the things that we are getting up to this week.  Every day we will be handing out stress toys and sweets in the library or the Ron Cooke Hub or the library for students to stay on track with their studies.  Additionally, we will be giving out information about mitigating circumstances and other workshops run by the Open Door Team tomorrow in the James Dining Hall.  We will also have a scalextric track there for everyone because those are hillariously fun.

We will also be releasing profiles of Department Reps who have had experiences of mental health and who want to talk about how Academia helps them stay on track.  These profiles are very interesting and deeply moving and I encourage all to read them.

Finally, we will be releasing videos of lecturers talking about the importance of supervision and contact hours.  Please watch these videos
