I’ve got some exciting democracy news for the first half of term - wahoo!
Annual General Meeting, and Officer Question Time
I’m pleased to announce that we’ll be having our AGM on Monday 25th April (that’s Week 3), from 5pm in YourSpace.
The AGM is where you get to hear the report from our Trustees for the Academic Year 2014/15, we’ll go over our audited accounts and our affiliations and then you’ll get to quiz the Full-Time Officers with a dedicated Question Time session as we head towards the end of our time in office.
Being open and transparent as an organisation as well as allowing students to have their voices heard is crucial. To that end we’ll be announcing some exciting things in the pipeline for our democratic processes and how you can help shape them to ensure we hit the goals outlined in our strategy - strategy.yusu.org
We’ll be posting more materials and the full agenda to the Facebook event: https://goo.gl/G75gHA
Student Trustee - Volunteering Opportunity
In addition, we’re also running a by-election for two Student Trustee positions - nominations are open now until the end of Week 3.
But what is a student trustee I hear you call? At the very top of the structure of YUSU lies the Trustee Board, it's a decision making body that oversees everything we do. Student trustees are not involved in the day to day running of YUSU but as a voluntary trustee it would be your role to help ensure that the charity is well-run and doing a great job for students.
If you’re passionate about opportunities and services for students and keen to gain experience in governing one of the largest charities in North Yorkshire - experience that would enhance any CV - then this could be just the role for you. You’d be one of 3 Student Trustees, alongside the 5 Full-Time Officers and 3 external trustees (so, you get to hang out with me a few times a term!).
There’s loads more information, and you can nominate yourself, here, or suggest others that you think would be great for the role: https://www.yusu.org/representation/elections
