The BME Network represents BME students at York and aims to fight all forms of racism in and around the University.
As DSO I represent disabled students on campus & the Disabled Students Network. We meet weekly to discuss issues affecting disabled students, plan campaigns, events and act as a student support network.
Working in partnership with like minded groups, we support the university to move towards more environmentally sustainable and ethical practices.
As International Officers, our job is to represent International Students in the university as well as run campaigns. We are also in charge of running the International Student Association (ISA).
We run campaigns on LGBTQ issues and aim to fight homophobia, biphobia, transphobia & hetrosexism to help create a safe and inclusive environment in the University. We also look out for the well-being of LGBTQ students, provide sexual health supplies to members and run weekly meetings.
AS MSO's, we're here to help integrate Mature Students into the crazy, and sometimes scary world of university. We're here to answer questions or just as someone to talk to. We also organise socials where you can mingle and get to know each other.
Whether its through events such as Spring Ball, Woodstock or our annual RAG Week, challenges such as trekking to the top of Kilimanjaro, raiding the streets of York with our RAG Parade or going along to our college events, there is always something going on to raise money for lots of amazing charities. The RAG committee and I also work to support as many student-led fundraising events.
We have 14 volunteering projects at York, covering a range of activities from volunteering with children or older people to arts and cultural and environmental projects. There really is something for everyone.
We are advocates for all women/non-binary people at the University regardless of thier relationship with feminism or politics.
